ZBrush is a digital sculpting tool that combines 3D/2.5D modeling, texturing and painting. It uses a proprietary "pixol" technology which stores lighting, color, material, and depth information for all objects on the screen. The main difference between ZBrush and more traditional modeling packages is that it is more akin to sculpting. ZBrush is used for creating high-resolution models (able to reach 40+ million polygons) for use in movies, games, and animations, by companies ranging from ILM to Electronic Arts. ZBrush uses dynamic levels of resolution to allow sculptors to make global or local changes to their models. ( information taken from Wiki: link HERE )
Also, due to my teacher wanting an additional blog for only 3D sculpting, I have another blog that you can check out HERE. It is exactly the same just on Blogspot but I tend to update that one first.
Announcement!
Hello all! Since I find it very hard to keep track of my blog, not to mention two blogs at the same time, I am going to share the link to my Zbrush blog here and you can follow my process there! It is regularly updated (not like this one) and has some depressing/funny material in there! For the people who are just starting with Zbrush it might be a good thing to read! If you want to ask me anything, drop me a message there! :) Link: http://vkavanozova3dmodeling.blogspot.com/

Second Assignment: Creating a Character
Second assignment is split into parts. First we need to create a character- including making a Turnaround, Character Sheet with information about the character, Mood Board with references and an Action Pose. Afterwards we'll start modeling the body, the head and the hands and we will finish with hair, clothing and detail. This topic will be updated gradually so stay tuned! For now, here are my character sheets: P.S. Drawing latex pants was a first for me!
First Assignment: Modeling a Doorknocker
As the title suggests. I chose to model the doorknockers from the famous movie: 'Labyrinth' (1986) which look like this:
I found this tutorial to be extremely helpful: -https://vimeo.com/74370771
Also, for the actual modeling, I did put all my effort into making it! My first go at Zbrush was rather... interesting... I admit, there is still a lot more work to be done on it, but I did try my hardest.
This is what I did:
Understanding Zbrush
This is a completely new program to me. Apart from hearing the name 'Zbrush' in a conversation 2 years ago, I've never been associated with/near it. It is hard enough to learn the new pattern of the American teaching but to learn a new program in less than a week... I don't know how this will turn out. P.S. 3D Modeling software of any kind just hates me and refuses to do what I try to do...... Cross your fingers for me!
