The mandatory shopping weekYes, I went, I shopped, I bought so many things! I love these mini trips that VCU is planning for us- exchange student, but the idea of travelling for 45 minutes with car just to get to the nearest place to buy clothes is just so off putting... I am a 'city gal', I am used to shops being all around me... I even got used to the idea of shopping in Primark every time I have to go out or look somehow decent/smart when meeting new people at parties... but here... I feel like I should rely on the pity of uni to take me somewhere to shop for clothes. I am being harsh but imagine needing clothes and having to pay 30-40 dollars for Uber and traveling and hour and a half there and back (and additional some hours for shopping). The plus is that I do get to see the other exchange students, talk with them, meet new people and look at the scenery outside Richmond. I do like traveling... Just not for clothes... And this is what Williamsburg outlet looks like from outside and inside: There were a lot of shops and all of them were famous brands! It took me almost 5 hours to look around and go into every shop. We did take a food break in a Sushi restaurant (Pssst, I am a big Sushi lover!) and the staff there was as amazing as the food and the interior layout! All in all, week #6 was good! My bruises from last week's skiing are almost healing, studies are going well and tomorrow I'm going to have my first test...
Cross your fingers for me!

More adventures and more university workHey-yo! 5th week has just ended and I am updating! I've had quite a few hand-in-s and some strict deadlines that I had to meet but I had an amazing end of the week! So... Studies (as I mentioned before, I have 4 classes and they are Game Design, 3D Illustration, Media and Tech, Modeling with Zbrush and 3D modeling with Maya and Animation) Things there have been very dynamic. Studying... or should I say- making things, day for day, intensely focusing on learning new programs and working on given projects with tight deadlines. Finally, I have updated my 'My Work' tab and you can see everything I've done so far! Throughout the week I went to this so called 'School/Study Jam' with the intention to meet new people, eat free food and get a free goody bag (as suggested from the poster that is put near the lifts of my accommodation). It was really interesting and to be fair- really helpful! I spoke to a lot of people and got to eat delicious food. I brought back not only the free goody bag but also some university merch! And speaking of food- I can't get any more American than American pancakes with Maple syrup! Still on the topic, I am continuing the posts with the painted eggs: Oh and I survived through my first accommodation fire alarm... I had to wait outside the building in the cold for only 30 minutes... I am not complaining because I got to see American firefighters and Police in action. Oh and, don't worry, there wasn't any actual fire! Someone must have been smoking in their apartment (or so the rumor goes). Fire alarm, as exciting as it might sound, wasn't the cherry on top of my week cake... IT WAS ME GOING SKIING! I went skiing in Massanutten on the weekend!
Weekend exploring in CarytownAfter writing so much and explaining and comparing a lot of things to what it was back in England, I feel like I should leisurely write about my adventurous weekend! Just a few memorable things to mention, me and Harry (I've mentioned him in a post not so far ago// reference to his blog here: www.harrydawsonweeklydailyblog.weebly.com ) have started an egg painting collection. Due to the eggs being white here in the shops and us being artists, we started drawing on them because it is funny and interesting. We just recently started but here are some pictures and don't think that there are not going to be future updates on the topic: So, about Carytown Part of what makes Carytown so unique are the countless boutique shops lining the street – just about any type of store you can imagine! From designer thrift stores such as Clementine to music stores like Plan9 Records; from home décor at Urban Interiors to spas and fitness studios like Yoga Source; from culinary shops such as Ladles & Linens to quirky gift shops like Mongrel. It all adds up to a neighborhood voted Best Shopping Neighborhood in Virginia by Southern Living Magazine! About 10 minutes away with Uber and 30-40 minutes away walking distance, Carytown showed me typical American shops, designer shops, craft shops and different restaurants. It was really nice having a stroll down the road and going from shop to shop exploring and finding amazing and interesting things new to me and my tastes! Ironically to all the nice places to sit and eat I choose McDonald's because I was interested to try the REAL one, the American McDonald's. It wasn't as exciting as thought it was. The interior looks like what it looked like back in the old days in my country. English and German Mc Donald's are way more nice. Anyway, it was an experience worth experiencing! Next time it will be a fancy restaurant! Along side all the places to eat there was one particular shop that caught my eye: The candy/ weird sodas/ Japanese sweets shop. It was amazingly colorful and sold so many interesting and bizarre things. From sweets, candy, chocolate to Poky, Japanese little toys and very weird sodas- Black Cherry soda, Martian soda, Grass soda, Bacon soda and etc. I am surely going to go back there again because my eyes could have seen even half of it, even though I spend at least 15 minutes inside! Of course I bought things from there: There were many interesting shops and things to see @Carytown! I will surely be going there again!!
